This project for an orphanage in Ukraine is in an existing basement building that holds both an office space and children’s multi-purpose room. The current layout does not allow for good circulation or multiple activities to be going on at once. My space planning solution breaks up the main space into three sections and the office space into two areas, each with a separate point of power. Incorporating bright colors helps to liven up a dark space so that it is welcoming to children. I used SketchUp to determine perspective for the rendering and AutoCAD to establish scale for the floor plan sketch.
